One of the 20th century’s greatest architects celebrates his 102nd birthday today. Oscar Niemeyer is arguably Brazil’s most significant architect of the modern era, having worked at the epicenter of the South American nation’s architectural renaissance. His works include the Cathedral of Brasilia, the National Congress of Brazil, the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum and the Palácio da Alvorada, the residence of Brazil’s president.
