The “designer hostel” is a new movement in European travel, and one largely dominated by the Generator Hostel brand. Joining the boutique-class of modern hospitality with the budget-class of the hostel, Generator provides chic and lively lodging environments for the backpack traveler’s budget. It’s a design hotel experience at a surprisingly low price point, with shared rooms in peak season starting at $30/night, and private rooms for two starting at $68/night. In short, it’s Europe on a budget with vibrant, design-class environments.
Generator now features a hostel in London in addition to the six other cities it serves around Europe. This new hostel, designed by The DesignAgency, features the same playful, high-design environment that Generator has built a brand on in other cities. Vintage-inspired furnishings and visual patterns meet contemporary layouts and lighting for a hip, young interior that invites its patrons to relax and get to know one another. The community vibe is very much emphasized by both Generator and their design partner, as open spaces encourage guests to get to know one another during their stay.
The new Generator Hostel – London is available for booking now, with weekend peak rates as low as $40 for a shared space and $80 for a private room in July 2014. Weekdays in off-season travel times can be had for lower. If you visit, plan to spend a good amount of time in the public spaces of the hotel, as the best part of Generator Hostels is often the people you meet, not just the killer design-friendly environment.

The product is currently in development and is scheduled for an initial release in Japan and Europe this summer. Nextbeat-1000 is an optimized interface for producing music and for DJs to perform in night clubs. The device does not require any external computers. It is as compact as a 30x30cm record sleeve with two music sources, a mixer, an effecter, and a sampler all built in, allowing optimal playability and durability for a professional DJ performance. Especially, the touch sensor with Wacom’s advanced sensing technology enables high speed detection of finger pressure and finger pointing accuracy to convert the players’ feelings into music and to fully bring out the creativity of musicians.
In addition, the portable control unit with a wireless function allows performers to move around with free from the main device.
